Company Volunteer Events
Looking to see how others are integrating their safety programs with company volunteer events. For example, the company has 20 volunteers that are assisting a local non-profit by performing manual labor around the facility. How are others handling this from an EHS perspective? For example, are you holding pre-event meetings to work out potential hazards, are you offering PPE, are you assigning first aid kits, etc., etc., etc.,? My company does not have any programs in place for volunteer events, so I'm looking to see what others are doing.
Emails After Hours: A Silent Productivity Killer?
Nearly 9 in 10 workers support laws that would allow them to disconnect from emails and other communications outside of work hours, according to a recent survey. The study, conducted by EmailToolTester.com, asked over 1,100 U.S. employees how managing work-related messages impacts their mental health and personal lives. The results are eye-opening.
Gamify Your Training
Don't be Mr. Garrison rambling up there MMKAY?
You can make Safety Training Fun and exciting.
Gamification works because it taps into motivation. Instead of passively receiving information, participants actively engage with the material. Studies have shown that gamified training can increase retention rates by up to 60%, transforming critical safety concepts into memorable lessons.
More importantly, it makes learning fun. If we can laugh, compete, and learn all at once, safety training becomes something employees look forward to, not dread.

Sleep, Safety, and Savings: NIOSH's Latest
Dr. John Howard of NIOSH is sounding the alarm on workplace fatigue—37% of U.S. workers aren’t getting enough sleep. The fix? A strong safety culture with tools like fatigue risk management systems and tech guides.
Meanwhile, work-related asthma is costing $21 billion annually. Prevention programs could help workers breathe easier—and save money.
At home, NIOSH found coaching clients to reduce hazards makes home health visits safer, while miners can look to new guidance tackling opioid misuse and mental health.
December coming in HOT!
Heat still a problem? Yeah, even in November. OSHA’s proposed rule wants to protect workers from heat by requiring water, shade, and paid breaks. But they need your input before December 30, 2024.
The good news: Breaks are paid, and heat triggers are set at 80°F and 90°F. The bad? It needs stronger protections for temp workers and better monitoring.
